1) I love sea kayaking. As a teenager, I raced kayaks at a Dartmouth aquatic club and I was hooked. I love the ocean, so sea kayaking is a natural “home” for me.
2) I love to grow things. Gardening – vegetables, flowers, bushes, trees. I have been known to grow things for harvest indoors and out. I love to see the miracle of life springing from the earth. I find it soothing and a great way to connect with God.
3) I love nature. The best way to see it is to go hiking or mountain biking – the woods, picturesque vistas, or reflecting alongside the ocean. Away from people, away from the busyness of life, and closer to God. In February 2014, my wife and I had a chance to take a dream vacation to Baja, Mexico. We had close encounters with several grey whales and their calves. The picture below is proof that we had an extremely close encounter with a 45 foot whale. It is one of the most spectacular experiences of my life. I also have a video of my wife petting a baby whale and one of me petting a mother whale below.
